These classes are focused on improving your ability to protect yourself against harassment or violence.  During this three-hour training, you’ll learn how to protect yourself in a safe, supportive and empowered environment. These classes will teach you to use situational awareness and safety strategies to avoid assaults before they happen. You’ll be shown how to use safety apps on your phone to not only film harassment but to notify friends and family that you are in danger.

You’ll also learn effective physical techniques addressing the most common attack situations: being pushed or pulled, cornered, rushed at or grabbed by the wrist. Rather than relying on strength, you will learn principles of leverage and surprise to defend against a stronger assailant. Regardless of your age, size, strength or physical ability, you can learn the techniques of safety and self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment.

You will also learn to effectively and safely use non-lethal weapons to defend yourself.

Class includes discussion of safety principles, and instruction in specific self-defense techniques.

  • Identify if people or situations are potentially dangerous
  • Harness your intuition to suss out whether someone is trustworthy or not
  • Set effective boundaries in any situation
  • Use your voice and/or body language to keep a potential attacker at a distance
  • Take decisive and preventative action anytime, anywhere
